C3 - Christ's Comfort and Compassion |
|
How often are you stuck at a red light and find yourself staring into the eyes of a homeless man or woman holding a sign asking for help? Have you ever wondered what to do? Have you wanted to give them something, but find yourself hesitant to give money because you don't know if that money is just going to go towards drugs or alcohol? We've been there. So what we're doing is filling Ziploc bags with some snacks, a water bottle, and basic hygiene items. We also include information on local shelters, such as the Rescue Mission, accompanied by Christian tracts and Gospel of John pamphlets. The bags are designed to fit in your glove compartment so you will always be prepared to provide physical and spiritual comfort to a needy person. We need your support to help the homeless in Fresno. There are many ways that you can help:
Our Mission Statement: "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 This verse was the inspiration behind our organization, C3, or Christ's Comfort and Compassion. After reading the book "Do Hard Things," by the Harris brothers, our youth group was motivated to break the mould of the teenage image and be counter-cultural through reaching out to the homeless community of Fresno. It is our mutual desire to pass on the mercy and compassion shown to us through Christ's sacrifice for all mankind. Our goal is to point people to God's love by providing them with a few small comforts, such as food, water, and basic hygiene essentials. We hope to impact our community in such a way that our mission will spread and ignite the hearts of people in every walk of life, no matter what their situation. Are you willing to rise about the substandard expectations of today's self-centered culture? If so, we need your help. 1 John 1:16-19 communicates the message that is written on our hearts: "This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. This, then, is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence." Consider this an opportunity to influence your world, one life at a time. ![]() | |
